![]() ![]() ![]() Imagine a queen chasing you through Sevastopol. That would make sense and still follow the same basic gameplay. Or they could of had a scene where it chases you and you have to run away from it. Showing the queen doesn`t mean it had to be a boss fight. They may have been feeling rushed to release the game. I think they just didn`t know what to do with it and chose the route that involved less work. Originally posted by WhiteLezard:The developers confirmed that there is a queen on the station and said that they wanted the game to stay grounded as a survival horror game inspired by the first Alien movie and a queen, which debuted on Aliens, would mean a boss battle. The second movie, with its pulse rifles and action, is the best one in the franchise, so they expect something like that from an Alien game. The first movie is that old one where the alien doesn't show up until half way through and isn't shown very much because it looks kinda dumb. For lots of people, when they think of the Alien franchise, they think of power loaders and pulse rifles. In that respect I think the game suffered in sales and expectations from players. all those things go heavily against what the game is supposed to be. If they expected to fight a queen they'd also expect a power loader suit and a pulse rifle.Īlthough the game probably would've sold better if there was a boss fight, a power loader and a pulse rifle. If players saw a queen they'd expect to fight the queen. Because the game is based on the first movie alone, just a single alien (except when there's more than one at the end because only one alien isn't a challenge anymore) with a heavy focus on survival horror.Ģ. They force us to pay for their game and insult us with this dull as sh*t ending. I just don't get why Sega did this to us fans. You're captured by the aliens and somewhat "coccooned" towards the end of the game and this is it, we're all thinking oh yeah we're about to have a showdown with the badass queen! instead we get nothing but more sneaking and more leaver pulling.Ī final showdown with the Queen would have been incredible, it would have been the absolute perfect way to end this game and yet all we're left with is a giant middle finger "To Be Continued" type situation for a game that looks like it will never see a sequel. Why the hell do we not see an Alien Queen? Seriously, we're forced to fight our way through multiple areas of the game where there's both eggs and face huggers all over the place. Heck, unless we are talking about the facehugger, we have little idea what it is even made of.Played through this game a bunch of times since it was released 6 years ago and while I love it dearly there's just one thing that ultimately annoys me and really ruins the ending to this game. You do not know how intelligent it is, how it sustains itself, what its senses are and how they work, how it can move, where it sleeps, when it sleeps, if it sleeps, or what its motivations and drives are, if it has them in any sense we would understand. There are no defined "types", but for all we know the number of "types" is infinite. ![]() The creature you are facing has no defined limits to the ways it can breed, its life cycle is a mystery. The treatment of the Alien as a creature, how it looks, stands, moves, behaves and the headspace the game seeks to put you in about it, it all has "Ridley Scott and Hans Rudolf Giger's Creature" written through it like the word "Blackpool" through a stick of rock.Īlmost everything that is claimed as a complete certainty about the creature's life-cycle and physiology is fan fic, even if you take the whole movie-canon and the creatures that appear in it. The different types is mostly fan fic stuff. AI is based off of the first film, so there was only the one type of alien - the Alien. Technically there are different types (drones, warriors, queens, praetorians), but in AI it's just a plain ol' Alien. Originally posted by Quantifix:It's just an alien (or should I say Alien?). ![]()
